The 2-Series Gran Coupe is placed below the 3-series and will compete against the Mercedes Benz A Class Limousine and 2021 Audi A3 sedan, offered in two variants, the 320d Sport Line (39.30 lakhs) and 320d M Sport (41.40 lakhs)
The 2 series wiil be locally produced at BMW’s plant in Chennai. The car is currently available only in a diesel 220d but the petrol variant will be following soon. Unlike the elder siblings the 2 series is front-wheel-drive in which the engine is positioned transversely, thereby saving space without compromising on the driving dynamics. To reduce understeering, an ARB technology (actuator contiguous wheel slip limitation system) works in combination with DSC (Driving Stability Control). The BMW Performance Control system increases the stability of the car by targeted braking of the wheels.

Doing duties under the hood is the BMW TwinPower Turbo two-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which produces an output of 190 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 1,750 – 2,500 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 -100 km / hr in just 7.5 seconds. The engine feels responsive and is efficient at the same time
